At a recent meeting of the National Association of Secretaries of State, Brad Johnson persuaded the group to bring their 2010 Summer Meeting to Montana. The convention is expected to have hundred of attendees, including about forty Secretaries of State from around the country. It’s also expected to bring about half a million dollars of spending to Montana.
That’s real economic development for the state. Great job Brad!

And here’s one to the Great Falls Tribune.
Brad will be on the Lars Larson show on February 21. KBLL in Helena, AM 1240, plays the show at 11:00 PM and KYLT in Missoula, AM 1340, airs it at 8:00 PM.
The show’s producers asked to speak to Secretary Johnson because of his strong views on Second Amendment rights. Brad’s recent letter to the Washington Times discusses Montana’s Compact with the United States, the legal device by which we became a state. In the letter, Brad argues that because Montana’s constitution at the time of the Compact guaranteed the right of “any person” to bear arms, and the United States approved that Constitution as part of the Compact, Montana is entitled by its contract with the United States to expect that the right of any person to bear arms will be honored.
More information about the Compact with the United States, and its bearing on the DC v. Heller case, can be found at www.progunleaders.org. The site includes a list of the other Montana elected officials who support this point of view.
Brad is facing a tough re-election campaign, and it’s going to take an effort by all of us keep a strong voice for Second Amendment rights in Montana’s government. To contribute to Brad’s re-election effort, please click here.
The U.S. Supreme Court is currently considering the case “DC v. Heller,” an important case for protecting the right to keep and bear arms.
Brad sent a letter to the editor of the Washington Times encouraging the Court to rule in favor of an individual’s right to bear arms. The Second Amendment guarantees the right of every citizen to own guns, not just members of the National Guard.
Here’s the letter.
Brad Johnson: standing up for our Second Amendment rights. One more reason to re-elect him as Secretary of State.
