Today the bipartisan National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) spoke out to defend the integrity of America’s elections officials.
On May 20, NBC Correspondent Andrea Mitchell claimed that some Secretaries of State might try to bias election results in favor of their own political party.
With membership from both major political parties, NASS called the statement “unacceptable and unfair to all election officials.” The NASS press release can be found by clicking here and scrolling down the page to the first entry under News Releases and Statements.
Brad agrees. Montana’s election officials have the highest integrity, and would never try to fix election results to favor their own party. As Secretary of State, Brad set the tone for absolute election integrity by hiring an elected democrat to head up the elections deprtment in his office. One more example of the ways Brad Johnson consistently reaches across party lines to get the job done, delivering elections for Montana that are among the cleanest and fairest in the country.
This article in the Great Falls Tribune suggests that voter turnout may increase this year. We saw a big spike in voter turnout in the 2006 general elections as well. Obviously, a lot of voter interest in this election comes from the tightly contested Democrat Presidential primary. But as chief elections officer for Montana, Brad Johnson is doing his part too. Secretary Johnson’s office has been running public service announcements — without his name or voice used anywhere — encouraging people to register to vote. Looks like they’re doing exactly that!
Hello, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Chris Shipp. I’m the new campaign manager for the Friends of Brad Johnson!
I’m really looking forward to telling Montanans about the great things Brad has done as Secretary of State. Our elections here are some of the cleanest and fairest in america. That’s because of things that happened while Brad was in office. I support the things he’s done to bring the Secretary of State’s office into the 21st century, like online candidate filing and online business reporting.
I’ve been active in the Montana College Republicans for two years. I’m currently Chair of the Carroll College Republicans, and I’m also the recruitment chair for the statewide College Republicans organization.

I’m looking forward to working with all the Friends of Brad to re-elect him for another four years!
