The National Rifle Association endorsed Secretary of State Brad Johnson! In a letter , the NRA told Brad, “Your strong support for the 2nd Amendment and working knowledge of the issues surrounding this most important debate are greatly appreciated.”

In February, Brad took the lead to encourage the United States Supreme Court to uphold every individual American’s right to keep and bear arms.  Working with a bipartisan group of Montana elected officials, he published a letter to the editor in the Washington Times describing Montana’s support of the Second Amendment.

Brad said, “The Second Amendment means exactly what it says. The right to keep and bear arms is what protects our right to vote. At the same time, our right to vote protects our right to keep and bear arms. That’s why it’s so important to vote for pro-gun candidates. That’s why I’m proud to have the NRA’s endorsement.”

Today Brad’s state office has a press release out describing the steps they’re taking to make sure soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines can exercise their right to vote.

Working with the Federal Voter Assistance Program, Brad’s office has cut transmittal time way back for absentee ballots being sent to members of the military, their families stationed with them overseas, or other Montana voters living overseas. By using a secure server, these voters can register, request absentee ballots, and receive their ballots online. The ballots can be returned by fax or mail or whatever method their county allows. The old way, the request had to be made by mail and the ballot had to be sent by mail. This way saves time and money for overseas military voters.

Good job, Brad! Everyone’s vote counts, and especially the people who are putting their lives on the line to defend the right to vote.
